The Art Society

The Society is a non-profit organisation which holds art exhibitions, competitions and classes. It is a working gallery and has 11 monthly exhibitions some of these are Open Competitions and the remainder are for Members only. With support of loyal sponsors the year 2016 achieved $8,000 worth of prize money and awards. The Society produces a monthly newsletter keeping members informed on news and activities. At the end of the year a Calendar is produced representing one member's painting and the winners of each monthly exhibition.

The QAS 10th Charity Art Show will be held on Saturday 23 September to Monday 2 October 2017, this year the society has choosen Motor Neurone Disease as its charity. Last year it was a great succes and record sales which the Ricky Stuart Foundation benefitted from. The society thanks all the members, friends and sponsors that supported this event. Last years sponsorship were from the ACT Government, IMB and Bendigo Banks, AnitCom, National Portrat Gallery and Copy Quick Printers - it is this type of sponsorship that allows the Society to stage such a charity event.

Art classes are held on weekdays, weekends and evenings. They cover all mediums and some specialise in a particular subject matter. A relaxed and supportive environment is encouraged and students of all levels are welcome. Tuition costs are minimal. In addition to the regular art classes, visiting professional tutors conduct workshops throughout the year.
